Photos

We have taken about 1000 photos and video clips this week.
They will all be available on the school system in Monday so bring in a memory stick!!!

We are in Sunny Brambletye

Please remember that all children should sign in and out through Surgery.

On the coach ... Finally

After collecting our luggage, we have said goodbye to Georgie and Joss who are off to Stowe and we hope they have a great time.
There is a new system for getting coaches at Gatwick, they have to be summoned by a little green man ... Well a man in a little green tabard. Anyway we are on our way and as you can see happy!

5:09 Landed

Touched down. Still to go through baggage reclaim and then we have to find a coach ...

Inverness Airport

We are installed in the restaurant at Inverness airport eating a diverse range of meals from pizza to haggis and chips.

A new star is born

Friday's star of the day is crowned at breakfast.

We are on our way home

The Team and I really mean that, this group have had fun and faced some personal and physical challenges and helped each other through.

The Reds won the Porridge Paddle

The Blues won the Olimpets Trophy

So now we leave and are heading home on a coach to Inverness.

Show time

Last night's show was amazing and I am sure that snippets will make it through to Leavers' entertainment and the Scotland 2014 video ... The Blue Whales' song medley was particularly good and it demonstrated that they have learned a lot about the biology of crabs!

We warmed up with a game of Wee Jocks Hat ...

More beach

Ready to surf

Unimpressed "Emo-Cow"

Modelling the latest beachwear ...

Take the strain ...

We came home from the beach and packed our kit and then git ready for tonight's show!

Haggis for tea!

Life's a beach

After a very wet squall past through, the weather cleared and so we have come down to the beach for the day...

We are playing volleyball, football other new ball games and generally just chilling out after a great week.

Message for Mr Walker

They Survived!

I counted them out and I counted them back in again.

They all seem a little tired but there is a real sense of achievement at base camp. All of the children are having a warm shower and then we are going to have some breakfast.

It's eggy bread for breakfast. Stampede!

"Actually ... It was really fun!" Said Lotte

No midge bites, no ticks ... A lot of happy campers.

New Star rising

Thursday's star of the day ...

Arrival for survival

The children were really cheerful as the assault boats ploughed through the sea loch towards the island.

However, once we arrived, a slightly more serous tone descended.

The first group to arrive scoured the foreshore for winkles led by Mehmed and Ned who have a real taste for seafood.

Once all four boatloads of pupils had arrived, Mark (our leader) explained the rules and then in a puff of goretex and rucksacks, they were off forraging for nesting materials.

Survival Island

We have had a brilliant day up on the highland behind the centre. The children are in great form and the patches of blue sky and a bit of sunshine really helped.
A lone Walker sits on its eerie marking off the climbers achievements.

The children have packed their essentials in their day sacks and the instructors have checked that everything that should be there is and that everything that shouldn't be, isn't. We are about to have a cup of tea and a HUGE slice of cake and then we are off to survival island.

Climbers part the second

All change

Thursday afternoon

The teams have swapped activities after lunch on the hilltop ...

Climbing one

Day three (or four - not sure now)

Thursday

After the excitement of the Athlon, we have split up into two groups again: the first group is climbing whilst my group are doing a monster orienteering course called 'search for survival'. They have to split up into groups and find seventeen points on the map. At each point there is a letter. All of the letters combined will spell out a four digit code to open their ammo boxes which contain their provisions ....
Note the blue patch of sky...

Planning the route is important ...

Athlon

Thursday Morning

Good morning and welcome to the event of the year: the multi-discipline relay race known locally as The Athlon.

The weather started fair this morning, but as the athletes gathered at the various start points the cloud descended.

The race started with a team of runners who ran about a half-mile and then handed over to a team of water carriers, who must carry a tube of water filled with water over the long course...
... Some did this more successfully than others!

They then handed over to the two-man blindfolded kayak team  ...
... One sighted person gave instructions whilst the blindfolded one paddled: Tess' useful navigation instructions such as "no! This way!" might eventually find their way into the new generation of TomTom.

The kayakists eventually found the pontoon and  handed over to the swim team ... Who thrashed the water to a foam.

... Now back to the dining room for a bowl of hot porridge!
